في لوحات محمد أبو الوفا، لا تُحفظ طقوس الموروث الشعبي من ابتهالات المنشدين، وإيقاعات الدفوف، وأجواء حلقات الذكر كذكريات ساكنة، بل يُعاد تخيّلها ضمن لغة تشكيلية نابضة، حيث يحمل الخط واللون ثقل الوجدان.

الأحمر الصارخ، والأصفر المضيء، والأزرق الفسيح ليست مجرد ألوان، بل أصداء لدفء اللقاءات البشرية، ونبض الطبول، ورنين الدعاء الجماعي. أما اختزال الشكل إلى كتلة أو خط أو حركة، فهو أقرب إلى عملية تقطير، تُقدَّم فيها التجربة الشعبية في أنقى صورها البصرية. فن أبو الوفا يقوم على توازن دقيق بين الأصالة والمعاصرة: يحتفي بالموروث كذاكرة جمعية، ويعيد صياغته بلغة حداثية تجعل اللوحة قادرة على التواصل مع المشاهد أينما كان. إنه فن لا يستعيد الماضي فحسب، بل يزرع فيه بذور المستقبل.

In Mohamed Abou El Wafa’s work , the popular inherited rituals ,the chanting of voices, the music rhythms , the circles of zikr are not preserved as static memories. Instead, they are reimagined through a lively visual language language, where intensity of emotions is expressed with lines and colors.

The fiery reds, luminous yellow, and expansive blues become more than colors ,they portray the warmth of human gatherings, the sound of drums, the echos of collective prayer. Shapes are brought down to basic forms; blocks, lines, movements like the distillation of a lived experience into its purest visual essence.

Abou El Wafa’s art is an accurate balance between the authenticity of heritage and our contemporary life. It celebrates heritage as a shared memory, yet rearticulates it through a contemporary interpretation , ensuring it speaks to audiences no matter the time and place. This is not art that looks back, it plants seeds for the future.
