ليلة حب: By Georges Bassil
في معرضه “ليلة حب”، يقدّم جورج باسيل مجموعة من الأعمال التي تستعيد ملامح “الزمن الجميل” من خلال مفردات بصرية تنبع من الذاكرة والحنين. يتعامل الفنان مع هذا الزمن بوصفه مساحة بديلة يعيش فيها، على هامش واقع سريع ومُكرر، فيختار أن يرسم عالمه الخاص: عالم الألوان الدافئة، الوجوه الحالمة، والرموز التي لم تفقد بريقها.
تركّز اللوحات على حضور أنثوي يتكرر بوصفه رمزاً للسكينة والتأمل، وفي قلب هذا الحضور تتجلى أم كلثوم، أيقونة عربية لا تظهر كصوت فني فقط، بل كصورة مكتملة للفرادة والقوة والجمال.
تمثّل أم كلثوم في أعمال باسيل تجسيدًا للحب، للثقافة، ولزمن لا يزال الفنان يتمسك به كمرجعية بصرية و وجدانية.
يعيد باسيل من خلال هذه الأعمال بناء عالمٍ خاص، ينحاز إلى الحنين دون أن ينزلق إلى التكرار أو النوستالجيا المجردة، بل يقدّم معالجة تشكيلية معاصرة تنبع من الذاكرة وتتجه بثقة نحو الحاضر…
George Bassil represents a collection of artworks reminiscing the features of the “Good old days” in his exhibition A Night of Love through visual expression stemming from memory and nostalgia. Bassil describes this period as an alternative world he lives in, bordering on a fast-paced and repetitive present. So he chooses to paint his own world, a world of warm colors, dreamy faces, and figures that still haven't lost their spark.
The artworks focus on a feminine presence, repeated to reflect peace and calmness. And in the middle of this presence appears Um Kulthoum, the Arab icon. Um Kulthoum doesn’t only shine as an artistic voice but as a complete image of uniqueness, power, and beauty. In Bassil’s works, Um Kulthoum represents love and culture, and a time period the artist still holds on to as an existential visual reference.
Bassil reconstructs a private world through these works. He’s drawn to reminiscence without being repetitive and purely nostalgic; however, he represents a contemporary artistic treatment emerging from memory and confidently heading towards the present.
